Mother Nature Pissed at Advertisers
So I get on my computer and read about ANOTHER friggin' earthquake... this one rocked China. 10,000 some odd people were hurt from the quake while approximately 600 were confirmed dead. As I click a link to watch a video reporting on the monstrosity I'm interrupted. In devastation-mode my heart is bleeding for the families affected by the disaster... and then it happens. I'm forced to watch a 30 second advertisement about fucking dandruff shampoo! Talk about inappropriate. I understand the important role of advertising in the media and yadda, yadda, yadda... but now that's out of the way: maybe the reason Mother Nature has been earthquake happy recently is because we as human beings have lost our minds/souls. As an advertising major I am pounded daily with words like 'target audience', 'strategies', 'tactics', 'planning', etc. etc.---NONE of which were clearly taken into consideration with this ad placement. This kind of ridiculous ad placement is seen daily and it's enough to make me vomit up my breakfast burrito. I need to know who is responsible for this; the ad agency, the shampoo company, or the actual news broadcaster. When you find out... slap them in the face.
